With the Monster Hunter movie adaptation on the horizon, and it’s time to start wondering what monsters are we going to see. A leaked teaser from June showed a wonderfully CGI’d Diablos and what’s likely a Rathalos breathing fire at the end. However, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the film. Images suggest Monster Hunter takes place in a desert, which would limit the number of monster possibilities. Let’s hope that’s not the case because there are a lot of monsters we’d like to see on the big screen.
Agnaktor is a leviathan and has a long lava encrusted body that would really pop on screen. Anyone who has fought one in-game also knows it has a bird like mouth that makes a pleasant snapping sound. Seeing the heroes narrowly escape its jaws would make for a great scene. Akantor, however, is a predatory wyvern living in similar areas. There’s a chance the two could end up in the same area together.
While the movie’s unlikely to visit volcanic areas, jungles and forests are a part of any Monster Hunter game, so it would be surprising if one wasn’t included in the movie. A fan favorite from these areas is Nargacuga. This majestic raven/panther wyvern hybrid hides among the trees. It would be awesome to see one sneak up or stalk the heroes with its red eyes shining in the shadows, before pouncing out to attack.
